The H2START Centre of Excellence at Trakia University – Stara Zagora delivered an interactive educational lesson entitled “Mission Hydrogen: The Fuel of the Stars and the Journey of Water” for students from class 6V at P. R. Slaveykov Primary School in Stara Zagora.
The lesson was presented by Dr. Mariya Ivanova, Head of Technological Development at H2START. Practical demonstrations were supported by Dr. Asrar Sheikh, a member of the H2START team. The initiative was organized in cooperation with Ms. Anka Murlieva, class teacher and science teacher at the school.
The event became the first practical lesson conducted in the school’s newly opened STEM Centre, providing students with the opportunity to experience modern scientific technologies in an environment designed to encourage experimentation and discovery. Through a hydrogen production station, a fuel cell and miniature hydrogen-powered vehicles, students followed the complete hydrogen cycle – from water electrolysis and hydrogen production to electricity generation and vehicle propulsion.
The lesson introduced key concepts related to renewable energy sources, green hydrogen production, fuel cells and hydrogen applications in transport and energy systems. Students explored how water can be transformed into a clean energy carrier and how hydrogen can contribute to a more sustainable future.The practical demonstrations generated strong interest and encouraged active participation. Students asked numerous questions and demonstrated impressive curiosity about science, innovation and clean energy technologies.
The activity forms part of H2START’s mission to promote hydrogen technologies and inspire future generations of scientists, engineers and innovators.
