The future of clean energy is taking shape in Stara Zagora
Hydrogen was one of the highlights of the “Bedechka Fest: On the Green 3” festival, brought to the spotlight by the H2START project. The festival took place on 20–22 June in one of Stara Zagora’s green oases. H2START took people of all ages on a hydrogen adventure, educating and inspiring their enthusiasm about hydrogen’s role in the energy transition.
The youngest visitors had fun producing green energy with a small wind turbine, learned how this energy can be used to produce hydrogen, and saw how hydrogen powers model vehicles — discovering firsthand why hydrogen is considered the energy of the future.
Festival guests also learned about the ambitious plans of H2START, Trakia University, and the city of Stara Zagora to:
- create a Center of Excellence in Hydrogen Technologies — a hub for training, research, and support for local industry;
- build a hydrogen refuelling station;
- introduce hydrogen-powered buses in what will be Bulgaria’s first hydrogen valley — making the air cleaner and urban transport more sustainable and pleasant.
We thank the festival organizers for the wonderful opportunity to show that the future is already happening today – and to present the exceptional potential of the H2START project for Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, and Southeastern Europe!
